The 2009 iCORE Alberta Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Graduate Research Symposium is being proudly hosted by the ECE Department at the University of Alberta, and being presented to you by the ECE Graduate Students Association. The symposium is set to be held on June 22, 2009, in the ETLC Solarium.
The symposium will bring together ECE departments from the Western Prairie Provinces (including the University of Alberta, University of Calgary, University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina, and the University of Manitoba), as well as researchers from other disciplines relevant to ECE and representatives from Alberta's growing high-tech industry. The aim of the Symposium is to create and strengthen research collaborations, as well as provide mutual exposure among industry and academia.
Update
The ECEGSA would like to thank everybody who attended our Symposium, our volunteers, and especially our wonderful sponsors and partners for their help in putting on another successful Symposium!
We would also like to congratulate Patrick Boyle, (Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Calgary) for winning the Communications Award for his talk entitled "Computer model investigation of clinical techniques for classifying supraventricular tachycardias".
Additionally, we would like to congratulate the following poster prize winners:
- Katie Krause, (Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Alberta), "Focused ion beam tomography of porous titania thin films".
- Eric Epp, (Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Alberta), "Thermal tuning of hollow waveguides fabricated by controlled thin-film buckling".
Keynote Speakers
The ECEGSA is proud to announce that we have secured Yves Fouron, Ph.D., and Bob McDonald (see posters below) as keynote speakers for our symposium! If you came to this website via our posters around campus, or the GSA Newsletter posting, or through word of mouth, note that you are welcome to attend the keynote talks without having registered for the Symposium. However, if you would like to attend the rest of the Symposium (details available in the full programme), you must have already registered.
